I actually served four years of active duty in the Army, with a one year deployment to Iraq. My hubs did 5 years active duty, and has since been in the National Guard in Texas for 2 years. (He even just came in 2nd place for the NCO of the year for the regional competition. He already won NCO of the year for the state of Texas!) He also has served two tours in Iraq, a combined total of 27 months over there before he was even 23 years old! (He had his 19th, 21st, and 22nd birthday over there!)

My whole family is rather military affiliated. My mother served 3 years in the army, my stepdad retired after 24 years, my uncle is still in the air force (I think he is at about 15 years), my great uncle served in the Air Force, as did both of his sons. The hubby's brother is preparing for his second deployment with the army, his uncle served in the Army in Vietnam, and his cousin just got out of active duty after 6 years of service. My sister is also married to a Marine.

We love our country, and thank you for taking the time to honor those who serve! It really does mean alot more to soldiers and veterans than people think!
