Corn parties, without a doubt. Getting a ton of corn and boiling or grilling it up. Then spending all afternoon eating corn and drinking lemonade. Nothing more summer than that!

my favorite summer memory? certainly swimming in the pool at my parents' house in florida. my sister and i (only nineteen months apart) swam everyday. i mean EVERYDAY. we were little brown kids. my sister and i would give synchronized swimming performances for our parents to watch and promptly give applause as soon as we bowed to signify the end of our performance. we played marco polo and one time i bumped into the pool steps and my nose bled. another pool game we played was that we had to think of a secret color. we ran around and around the pool and as soon as someone guessed our "secret" color, we all jumped in. usually it was a crayola color like burnt sienna or periwinkle. sweet memories! :)

I think my fav summer memory was swimming all day at grandma's place. We lived in Alaska, but went to Washington to see my grandma and we kids (a ton of us) went swimming in the public pool everyday. The swim suits laid on the back porch bathroom floor and we put them back on wet every morning. I remember the cold wet suit, but it wasn't bad... not like it would be now. :)

A village churchyard with a rickety fence and beyond a field with summer flowers. We sat under an old yew tree and had a picnic under the blue sky with bees buzzing around us and cows mooing in the distance. My now (ex)husband, our three bouncy kids, and my now (deceased) brother, wife and three even more noisy and bouncy children. Now all grown and gone, but what a beautiful memory!

Bobby's Resort at Lake Delavan in WI. We went several summers with our cousins and stayed in a cabin, swam in the lake, fished and caught fireflys. How much I loved those lazy days of summer. And just as a side note, this is the lake that drained away a few summers ago over night when one of the berms gave away but its all back and full of fish making memories for another generation of children.

My favourite summer memory is our family road trip (MN-NM) 14 years ago. My best friend had moved to Oregon the year before and we were sure it would be years before we could hang out again. Our parents surprised both of us. My family pulled into a campground near the Grand Canyon. When we got out at our campsite, there was my best friend and her family in the neighbouring site. We spent several days hanging out and watching Olympic gymnasts on the big screen tv in the camper across the way (they left their curtains open so we could spy through). And we saw the Grand Canyon.

A perfect summer evening, sitting outside with friends. And then we noticed the Northern Lights. It was a spectacular, and unexpected, show the Mother Nature put on! We all still talk about it.

One of my favorite summer memories is laying on a quilt(of course) in my aunt's backyard watching the beautiful starry sky and hoping to see a falling star! And her homemade ice cream was always such a treat.

I loved going for a walk after dark on our farm. The night noises are so soothing in the summer. And skinny dipping is a great memory too!

Favorite summer memory - first apartment decked with bean bag chair, sleeping bag & one bang up stereo system! Long afternoons by the pool with cheap wine, great friends and no parental restrictions. That was a summer!

My favorite summer memory this year has to be the birth of my son. He was born on July 22/10. He was a month early! so it was a nice surprise :-) Plus my brother and his wife had their son on the same day, same hospital, just 1.5 hours before me!! It was so much fun.

My favorite summer memory is when my first nephew was born. His parents rented a house on the river with a private beach in the back. I'd go over pretty much every day and lie on the beach with him sleeping on my chest. So wonderful!

Favourite summer memories are so many - mostly when the children were really young - walking in the rain in a summer downpour, jumping in the puddles - throwing sticks for the dog - warming up and drying out with hot chocolate and crumpets - and then the sun would come out again and off we would all go and do it all again, but this time in the sun! ...oh ... where do I stop!

One of my favorite summer memories has to be when we would travel to the mountains and the children would fish for trout. They had so much fun. And we always enjoyed spending time in the cool mountains of NC.

Favorite summer memory is walking through a field in the long summer twilight with a couple of friends in the numinous half-light when I was a teenager. There was something very magical about it.

The anticipation of making more memories, and catching up with people who are busy the rest of the year, is just as dear as any memory of the past.

My favorite summer memory is taking a 3 day drive from Florida to spend time at our cottage in Michigan as a kid. The car had barely stopped moving, and we were already racing to jump in the lake.

My favorite memory would have to be having my 20 year old daughter come home for two weeks and having a big family bar-b-q, we played croquet, ate a ton of food, took pictures and my sister raided my sewing room for at least six hours! Next up would be taking the whole family to as many concerts as we could possible fit in. Fun times!

As a child hiking up Terry mountain to pick huckleberries and blueberries. They were 7 children and the whole family would make a day of it. WHat fun, productive and a great way to learn direction.
