...with grace.

we have a very close neighborhood
when we need help, we rarely even need to call
everyone just knows

my mother died when I was just thirty-something
she had been ill for 7 years prior
so as an only child
my role as caregiver came to me very quickly in life

imagine, then, if you will
how pleased I was to meet my neighbor's wife
she was so much like my own mother

she lived her life with such grace

when it was her time, I gave her the last gift that I could
I let people know
I went to their homes, and I spoke quietly and calmly
and I tried to approach the task as she might have
...with grace.

Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes,
that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts.
~ Paramahansa Yogananda

take a moment to honour those women in your lives - those who have come before us
let our thanks to them be
our own life
....with grace

This is such a beautiful post Natalie. I lost my own Mom when I was in my 20's. I am most sad that she never met my children. But on another note, an aunt of my hubbys stepped in and became the Grandma that my children did not have. She is now 95 years old. She filled a role that I needed so desperately at that time. Thanks so much for sharing.

To just Be There is so much. I've learned that over time, and through sharing loss with people I care about. We are often hard on ourselves that we don't, didn't, Do enough. It is enough, whatever we do, however we are present.
Good thoughts your way.
