dearSTELLA, meet Jaybird Quilts

what a lovely surprise!

and I thought I would share them with all of you!
we're going to have a series of giveaways for these brand new fabrics

because it's a well known fact, at least around here, it's a well known fact,
that what you give, you get back ten fold
here's a peek at
It's a Shore Thing by Jack & Lulu

and this could just be my very favorite
Indochine
but today, I am working with
Playdate
which just happens to come in cotton AND flannel
so this weekend's giveaway is for the flannel version of
Playdate by dearSTELLA

after thinking about a fussy cut for the elephants
I just knew I was gonna cut into some part of them
so I opted for....

you know
within no time I had a pattern selected that had no regard for the elephants,
and I had the pieces cut for a baby snuggle in no time
the blocks came together in a snap

so.
the flannel bundle is yours, along with the remaining cottons that weren't used
in my baby cuddle

but let me just tell you, you gotta get your own copy of
Skip the Borders
this copy is personally autographed
oh, and the tip of the day?
popping your seams on your four patches
you do pop your seams, don't you?
no?
try it, it's easy, and you'll eliminate all of the bulk in the middle of your four patch

now, all I have left to do is to sew the blocks together
it's back to Jaybird Quilts' book for me
and it's off with you to become a follower of the blog
leave a comment
tell us all about a moment
when you have
"given, only to receive ten fold"

we'll announce the recipient of the flannel bundle
on Monday

in order to be chosen by the random number generator, or my UPS guy,
you MUST be a follower
I can't reply to you if it says "no-reply blogger"

it's not that I don't appreciate the followers that I have because you know I do
but I can't help but wonder -- people have thousands of followers
and I know I have thousands of readers
but I would love to have you all become followers
I won't overblog you
I promise

I don't know about getting back tenfold when giving but the feeling of knowing I helped by giving has always made me feel ten feet tall.

I love doing random acts of kindness and giving gifts when someone doesn't expect it...their smile always makes me feel like a million bucks. I enjoy being able to use my talents to make someone else a little happier.

All I need is a Thank You and a picture of the recipient with the gift. But the best thank you was from a comfort quilt I made for a friend of the family. She wrote me a wonderful note, even as sick as she was in the last stages of cancer, that I will forever cherish as she left us all too soon.

I help at our local school teaching the kids craft and submitting our project into the local show each year. We try to enter every catagory...the smiles on their faces when they win a ribbon or a gift is priceless...

Being a good friend through thick and thin has rewarded me with lifelong friends that I treasure and who would return the favor anytime I needed it.

Wow, hard question. A few years ago one of the girls in our office lost her home to a fire. I belong to an on-line group that does quilts for members when they need them and I was able to get a quilt for each of her sons and for her. I get to hear often about how the boys enjoy their quilts and have fun with the one she got too. It always thrills me to know they are enjoying something I had a hand in.

Thanks!

That really is a hard question. I just love giving and never give to receive back. Thank you so much for this giveaway.

I like to give anonymously and I always feel blessed ten fold when I give to others. Thank you for reminding me how much I enjoy blessing others.

I love to volunteer at an elementary school. The best feeling I have had was when the young girl would give the biggest genuine smile and a simple thanks.

I love to make baby gifts and I usually go a little nuts. I get back 10 fold when they send me pictures of their little ones using my handmade goods. Recently my co-worker sent a picture of his little one cuddling with one of my handmade blankets and it made my day!

I am part of a prayer shawl group at my church. When my dad recently broke his hip, the shawl group have been so supportive of him! Their hugs and support have been awesome.

Giving always makes me feel better than receiving. I love to bake and I think our neighbors like it too!

I just enjoy giving to those that need an extra pick-me-up...especially w/o their knowing. I know that these kinds of thoughtful gifts always brighten my day and I love the feeling that comes w/ making someone else's day just a shade brighter :)

Made a quilt for my daughter-in-law with Texas fabric as she is a native Texan. She told me it was her most prized possession that no one had every gave her anything like this before. Just the fact I had made her so happy was thrill enough for me. I give to make people happy which makes me real happy.

I always acknowledge people when I see them, strangers holding the door for another, answering a question in a public place. Giving directions. A smile, a nod, a 'thank you'. People respond to a friendly face, it's like the 'pass it on' commercials. Sometimes its all it takes to make my day feel better, and maybe someone else's too.

Given, only to receive tenfold ... my wonderful dogs and cats (aka, quilt helpers) - each of them a rescue, each of them gives back so much more.

Thanks for the chance1

I love to make quilts for fmily and friends, and burp cloths and blankies for the young Mothers group home in Los Alamitos. But mostly I think it's the small things I love t do the most, buy coffee for the person behind you in the drive thru or leave a very large tip for some hard working wait staff....or??? ( and. I am just saying Hi, I have this fabric too!)

I don't know if it's tenfold or not, but when I make a quilt for someone who needs the comfort of one and give it to them, my heart swells at their reaction. It makes me want to do it again and again. Julie's book looks awesome.

Volunteering as the chairperson of several fund raising events for our local hospital has provided me enduring friendships.

I totally agree that when you give you will receive. My favourite thing to give is a smile - costs you nothing and can make another person's day so much better. Sometimes I throw in a kind word too. We can all make our world a more loving and friendly place by being kinder, gentler and more loving to the people we meet : )

Every time I give something, just the smile on the person's face is a thank you enough for me. I really putting my time into something for a special someone.

I am very involved with our church, volunteering and giving my my time and talents wherever I can. That always fills me and makes me feel awesome, but when my kids tell me how much they like volunteering because of the warm fuzzies they get, my heart swells!

I have to confess I don't 'pop my seams' but yours look so neat I will from now on!
I volunteer at my local primary school - I started when my children attended but my youngest is 18 now and I'm still there! I think I get as much pleasure from it as the children do!

SUPER CUTE! And great tip!!! I think that my biggest was getting groceries for a friend and her family and then having the satisfaction of knowing they would eat for another week. The best part was that week her two brothers got called back and offered jobs. Such a blessing. Thanks for the giveaway and for making me think.

We found out that there is a crew of thieves that frequent the gas station we use. Yesterday I saw them again. They were not stealing, but walking around the fueling area. Two men drove up to the pumps and got out of their truck to go inside. So, I mentioned to them that they might want to lock their truck. I won't go through the details, and it is fortunate that they did.
