Countdown to Christmas Again!

oh oh.
here is yesterday's post!

we are thankful for each of you
and want to say thank you by showing you some project
ideas
and by having a giveaway!
CarrieP. was our last selected winner; CP, please email me the details
string coasters
quilt as you go or quilt when they are pieced
trim and bind and you're done!
here are the pics
go to your scrap basket
pick a theme and iron your strips and pieces
if they are too big for these little 4" coasters
grab your scissors and trim away
layer a backing fabric, some insulbright, and cover the top in scraps and strips
these are started with a center strip
and I "flip and sew" until the piece is covered
if you don't 'quilt as you go'
flip over and add more quilting
for these little items, I "covered" then "quilted"
square up/trim
go to your binding scraps bin for some 'ready made' binding
(you do keep your binding scraps, too, don't you?)
make sure you check the binding scrap length...and bind!
it is a season of giving
and of thinking of others
if you have the time to make your gifts
these are a great little item
put them in a small basket, tie some raffia around the basket and the coasters
and let someone know you are thinking of them

remember to post a cookie recipe on our facebook page
and please
leave us a comment telling us
"who would you like to 'surprise' with a gift?"

My husband! He is always so hard to buy for/make for, even worse now that he is retired.

I would like to give a gift to my good friend Janie. She just lost a brother in law and now her mother in law has fell and broke her hip! She is always so giving to everyone.

If I could I would surprise my husband with a new pick up truck. He has a 1989 and he really could use a new one.
Thanks so much for picking my name. I sent an email.
Merry Christmas!

How cute! And yes, I do hold on to my binding scraps! Never know when they will come in handy, like for this little project.

My friend Lynn is doing a house remodel right now and can't get in her sewing room. It's about to drive her crazy! I'd love to surprise her with a present.

My niece was expecting her first baby around New Years, so I made her a baby bunting from a pattern I bought years ago. It's tacked, not quilted. The inside is flannel, the outside is a Hawaiian underwater scene with lots of sea turtles, which she loves. I sent it off two weeks ago and the baby was born Dec. 9. What a grea holiday surprise!
