Countdown to Christmas Continues!

Congratulations to yesterday's winner!

Kenna
please send me your mailing addy
and in your email let me know whether you would like
fabric or patterns
as your thank you gift from
beyond the reef
how many of you will be having breakfast or dinner with friends
this time of year?
why not put that bottle of wine
in a hand made burlap stocking?
grab an existing stocking that you like
and trace the shape on to a 3/8 yard x wof piece of burlap
(yes, you'll have extra burlap...make little flowers to put on your gift tags)
cut along tracing lines to create two 'stocking' pieces - I used pinking shears
select an accent fabric from your stash
you'll need two pieces approximately 5" x 8"
(check this 8" dimension with the top of the stocking you traced and adjust accordingly)
trim bottom 8" edges with your pinking shears
select a fabric you know your host/hostess will enjoy
align straight edge of the accent fabric with the top of the stocking
and trim sides even with the sides of the stocking
save your scraps - trim one piece into a 1" x 5" rectangle, fold right sides in to the center
fold in half again and topstitch
this will be used for a little 'loop' to hang your stocking
 sew accent fabric to each of the tops of the stocking pieces;
fold over, encasing the raw edge of the top of the stocking
with wrong sides together, stitch around the perimeter of the stocking
stitch about 3/8" in from the edge
remember to stitch your loop into the seam allowance at the top/heel side
insert bottle of cheer
or dog bones, or bags of dry soup mix
or.....
and give!

remember to leave us a little note, post a cookie recipe on our facebook page
or just tell us what you would put in this stocking!!
we'll pick another follower
for another gift giveaway
in tomorrow's post

won't you let your friends know about
Countdown to Christmas?

thank you for being a part of all that we do

be.do.create.

Cute stocking! Is it sturdy enough to hold a bottle of wine? I saw some burlap with mustaches and bowler hats on it the other day that would be great as a stocking for a friend. Now, just need the snow plow to come so I can get out! Oh, and for the hubs to shovel the drive.... :)

Thank you!! :) I'm thrilled! :) And I love the burlap stocking....I bought a bolt of burlap and intended to make bags to hold 2-3 jars of stuff I canned this summer, but this is a much better idea!!!!

I would make 2, fill them with cat treats and give them tony daughter for my "grand cats".
Thanks for the ideas and the giveaway.

Great idea! I would fill it with quilting notions and give it to my friends.

I would fill it with some gifts cards for restaurants and mostly definitely some candy. Probably some fat quarters too if I were giving it to a quilter friend.
