you can't say the word without thinking
about all of those great moments
in life
laying on the grass, looking up at the leaves dancing on the breeze
sitting on the old wooden pier, watching the sun on the water
or, toes in the sand, watching the sun set on the Pacific

I wanted to know more about the person behind this unique fabric design
so I asked if Jennifer would answer a few questions:
1. Dog or cat, whale or dolphin, rose or orchid, and why?
Used to be dog. Now cat. Result of living with 3 boys :).
Whale- So incredibly impressive in size...And their plight is powerful.
Orchid -complex and rare.
2. Favorite cookie (that you remember from your childhood)?
Easy peasy- My mom's peanut butter cookies. It's my favorite kind to make with her.
Who can resist the rich peanut butter and iconic fork mark.
3. Travel by camel or by horse, and where were you? And if you haven't yet, which would you choose and where?
Done both. Camels though exotic especially at sunrise in Egypt, I prefer horses.
I love to gallop and they are such gorgeous, perfect creatures. Patagonia, Andes Mountains, Argentina and San Migule de Allende, GTO Mexico.
All with my family and close friends.
Pretty divine.
4. Shimmer....how did you choose the name for your new collection? (With the exception of the obvious....) I thought about Glimmer and also Shine...but Shimmer is best because you got to "pucker up" to say it.
5. You always keep it fresh. Do you a. Read b. Sketch and journal c. Photograph a multitude of things d. Meditate or otherwise 'rest' your mind between collections?
Thank you. It's easy for me... My constant is change. I am not a creature of habit.
I am curious. I love to experience new things. Bit of a wanderluster!
I do yoga and exercise regularly and meditate when I am feeling unbalanced.
As much as I enjoy people, I also love to be alone, especially in nature.
I don't know what it's like to be on autopilot....that phrase always hit me in a funny way.
6. What edible are you growing in your garden at the moment?
herbs- cilantro, parsley, basil, chives.
7. Who are you listening to at the moment?
My tastes vary extremely. Right now? Ozomatli.
Great dance music.
8. Who are you reading at the moment?
The Divided Mind by Dr. John Sarno.
9. Favorite veggie?
A perfect heirloom tomato right off the vine, slightly warm from the sun.
10. Favorite ravioli - or are you a candy junkie?
What can I say....Good ole California See's nuts and chews have been my favorite since 1988, the year I moved to San Francisco from Boston.
I also had the pleasure of working with these beautiful fabrics
I wanted to make something that would showcase Shimmer
so I worked on a
colorBlock tote and clutch
with plenty of room for everything you'd want to bring home
from your local farmer's market
(it's a bag in a bag!)

When I hear the word shimmer, I think of sunshine across rippling lake water, a cool breeze on a warm summer day, hearing the leaves rustle in that breeze as is sit on the bank enjoying it all.
I think of shiny, pretty things. For example, the sun on the beach.
This winter the sun was shimmering across the snow.
When I think of shimmer I think of the reflection of the water in a lake or a pool. A fond memory from childhood is the reflecting pool in Washington, DC. Fitting name for this fabric line!
When I heard the word shimmer I think back to sitting on the deck at my Father's cabin in the quiet. My children would go to bed and I'd make a hot coffee then sneak out to the deck near the lake and sit in the peace and quiet watching the moonlight dance across the ripples of the water. SO relaxing.
I think of eyeshadow! :)
Shimmer makes me think movement, love the fabric

Shimmer....the full moon rise over Lake Superior....
I think of the sun shining on a lake or the ocean. Or the mirage type of shimmer on a very hot day driving down the road. :)

Shimmer takes me back to my childhood when the sun shone off the lake in the early morning and late evening, just a fabulous sight. Thanks for the giveaway.
Bling. Don't know why.
Heat shimmering off the pavement on a sweltering day.
Sultry eye shadow, rippling water at sunset, Sun on sand
Shimmer reminds me of sun gently reflecting off of something shiny, like water, snow, ice. Especially moonlight on snow!
When I hear the word shimmer it makes me think of sunlight reflected on the water.
The ocean, and light reflecting off it!
I think of a slinky dress

Thanks for the great interview! It's fun to read the answers and get an insight to the designer.
When I hear "shimmer" I think of a sparkly dance dress with layers and layers of tulle under the skirt, high heels and soft music playing in the background.

I love the fabric you chose! The color pop you chose!!
Shimmer, for me, is sunlight sparkling in the surface of water with small ripples from a light breeze.
Sun skipping along the water at sunset on Lake Michigan.
The word shimmer makes me think of a beautifully cut diamond with the sunlight shining through it. I also think of sparkling, glittery and starlight.

Shimmer sounds like a fresh snowfall, diamond shimmers as the full moon hits it and there is no wind. Bunnies run across the snow looking for something to eat. Coyotes yowl in the woods. How's that? Thanks for the giveaway!
I think of prom and brides maid dresses.
Sun (and moon) light dancing on the water, laying down a path for the feet of my imagination to follow.
Great interview and insight to the creator of Shimmer. When I think of the word 'shimmer', I think of of the shine and shimmer of a 1960s beaded tassel go go dress that someone is doing the shimmy in! Such an iconic period in fashion.
I think so many of us think the same thing when we hear shimmer ... sun setting or rising over water. That's it for me, too! Thanks for another great giveaway!

Shimmer: Early morning dew on the garden spider web on my deck, ice crystals in the air, unbroken snow with the winter sun shining on it, waves breaking on the lake and the sun winking the droplets of water. Shimmer:
Evening sun and the warm, glowing light it creates during the summertime.
I would describe shimmer as the light's reflection off of water while relaxing on a lounge chair at the lake. Ahhhh...shimmer! Thanks sew much for this chance to win. :-D
Shimmer makes me think of flashes of light as a woman strolls through a room dressed to the nines. I think of a confident, sexy woman when I think of shimmer.
It makes me think of disco balls and dancing!
Great bag! I think of eye shadow but now I would rather think of this gorgeous line of fabrics instead
