I'd love to live in a log cabin. Log cabins are usually located in the woods or near a lake or stream. Being closer to nature and not living in the city would be great!

Janet M said...

The mid century post and beam would feel like home to me since I grew up in the 50's and have lots of photos and memories from that era! I guess I gave away my age here :>)

Gill said...

I'd like to live in a log cabin in the summer months!!
Your quilt is fabulous - I love it!

Julie said...

I love a post and beam home. However, a "modern" log cabin by a lake would be a wonderful get away retreat for quilting.

Joan Carter said...

Log cabin because I used to live in one but had to move. It was lovely and quiet in the woods.

Unknown said...

I agree with the modern cabin by the lake, but it will have a large quilt studio with lots of natural light. I can dream!

Deanie said...

Oh wow, that's a tough question for me because I love both, but I guess if I had to choose, it would be a log cabin because I love the cozy rustic feel and back to basics lifestyle, way back to where quilting began. :)

mary said...

I would love to live in a log cabin by a lake. I would welcome the laid back life of a cabin. The cabin would have a large space for quilting.

scottylover said...

Oh, I have been waiting for your post! I couldn't wait to see what quilt you made.

I would love the mid-century post and beam home. I am not a fan of log cabins (house not quilt block) and love the style of a post and beam house. Love the craftsmanship of them.

I've always dreamed of living in an A-frame log cabin in the Black Hills....near a stream, so I can listen to the flowing water. Sigh. But I love the Arts and Crafts style houses, too. They're citified nature in my mind.

Anonymous said...

Love the quilt, will have to get the mag,!

I would choose the post and beam , more contemporary but still rustic feeling, with much higher ceilings and lots of light. Near the water or on a hillside with some distant views from my studio windows, please!

Janie said...

I could live in either home. As long as I have a sewing area! Your quilt is gorgeous. Thanks for the giveaway.

CapitolaQuilter said...

Post and Beam built in a setting where you would traditionally find a log cabin that way I can have the best of both worlds. You are more likely to have lots of flat wall space for a design wall that way too.

Margaret Maloney said...

These haiku are here

Post and beam for me.
Straight lines, geometric shapes--
just like in my quilts!

When I was in my 20s, I was in love with log homes. In my 30s I loved post and beam. What do I live in? A center hall colonial!!

Heidi [Banks of Frog Creek] said...

Log cabin, because I love lake living or mountain living... and log cabins fit into both places :)

Log cabin, love the wood. 24Tangent@gmail.com

My family and I are lucky enough to have a log cabin in the woods near a lake -- we love it in the summer months. No electricity or phone -- we are completely unplugged! I'm thinking of taking my treadle there.

JoyceLM said...

The log cabin block is my favorite - I love your updated version of it. Thanks for sharing & thanks for the chance to win.

lindav said...

I'm thinking a modern log cabin by water would be the way to go - and yeah, in the summer.

Sally said...

Mid century for me - lots of light for quilting.

Nicole said...

I would choose the post and beam house I think. I love log cabins but they always seem too dark.

I love you quilt colours!

JANET said...

I like both. As long as they were in the woods or a natural area, I would not care. (Although I love the look of cream walls and dark beams.) Love the quilt!

Barbara Fox said...

I would say a modern log cabin, high ceilings and plenty of light in from the outside, stairs going to the loft where you can relax and sew.

Shelley said...

I am a log cabin girl. I love the rustic feel and the feeling of the great out doors inside. Greens, rusts, and brown's are my go to colors. It goes along with lakes and campfires. I will not mention mosquitos.

HELLO,I'd choose post+beam,as they are open,light-filled,but still retain an 'olden-days look'! Such a neat quilt! Thank You for your Blog, your Inspiration+a swell giveaway too!

I'd love to live in a midcentury post and beam house with a view of the ocean, because much of my inspiration comes from what I see outside my window. Ironically, my all-time favorite quilt pattern is the log cabin....

Renata S said...

I will take a more modern post and beam home.

Cheri the Quilting Nanny said...

Mid century post and beam house (if it is what I am thinking it is) I like seeing my house decoration...and with beams and such inside...I get to see it all the time instead of just when I go outside with a log cabin! But with that bundle of beautiful dot fabric...a quilt made of that would make any house beautiful!

I have always loved log cabins and the idea of one in the middle of the forest sounds awesome to me. At my age I don't think that will happen.

Penny said...

I've always wanted to live in a log cabin but haven't yet. The log construction really appeals to me. I think a log cabin would be the perfect place to display that quilts that I make & the antique guilts that I enjoy collecting.

definitely a log cabin....it would be the perfect setting for all the quilts.....

Love the log cabin idea if it is in the right setting and has enough light.

I would love to have a modern log cabin away from the city (as long as there is enough space for a sewing room!)

Unknown said...

I have fallen in love w/clean lines the last few years, so a mid century modern would be my preference.

ledamewood said...

Mid Century post and beam for sure. Love those clean lines. Where I love to stay in a log cabin and enjoy all the wood, coziness and warmth, on a daily basis, MCM is more my style. I love all the open space and windows with the light streaming through.

Anonymous said...

OH, log cabin for sure! :) I enjoy the texture of logs especially in walls and ceiling beams ... and think of all the fun you can have decorating with quilts!

:) Linda

Congrats on your wonderful quilt being in the magazine. I love log cabin quilts too.

Probably in the modern house but filled with antiques and vintage stuff that I love. A log cabin would be too dark and my eyes aren't what they once were. Your quilt is stunning and your giveaway fabric is so darn pretty. Thanks for the chance to win.

Unknown said...

I'd have to go with the mid century modern post and beam. Log cabin is a bit too rustic for me.

Beth said...

Log cabin for me! Right now we live in a hundred year old farm house. A log cabin is next on my list; my sister and I always dreamed we'd share a log cabin as old ladies and the grandkids would come visit us there. Doesn't that sound like fun? In between visits we'd be content crazy old cat ladies. Good times.

I love in a small log cabin and love it. Your quilt has given me some great ideas to try with some blocks that started out as bento blocks. I'm changing it up. Thanks

Lisa England said...

I'd choose whichever one had more room for quilting!

My aunt and uncle built their own log cabin, and while I love being there to this day (rafters, coziness, the warmth of wood) I'd rather live in a post and beam simple because you can change out the wall colors and pattern. In a log cabin it's all wood all the time! Thanks for the opportunity!
