Friends.....lessons from friends

friends.

lessons from friends

in the last few weeks
I have had the joy of spending time with friends

one of my friends
is my 90 year old neighbor, turned friend

the biggest lesson I receive
from spending time with this 90 year old is this
everything is a
delight

this adult trike was hung with a small kids tricycle
an adult tricycle?!???
delight

dinner with friends
the simplest of a bbq filled with meats and veggies
flowers from friends as a thank you
delight
and carving time out of the day
to set up the chairs/table/kayaks
on the beach
for some time on the water
with people whose to do lists are longer than others'?
delight
let's remember to stop
and carve some time out of the day
prioritize our to do list
to include some
delight

have I made my point yet?
breathe.
take some time for yourself
and remember to learn from your friends

You are the "delight" in the quilting world. In my world, "delight" is hanging over the fences between houses and talking in real time to the person on the other side of the fence.
And/or picking up trash off our block that people from outside the block throw out their car windows :-)

It was delight just relaxing on the patio watching the birds and the butterflies in the gardens.

I spent a couple of hours talking with my niece--catching up, reminiscing, making some plans, listening to some concerns she has. I hope it doesn't sound conceited to say I was a delight to her, but I think anytime one feels heard, it is a delight. Her attention was likewise a delight to me. I feel so blessed to have her in my life.

First of all, thank you so much for having such great giveaways! I did delight my husband this weekend by making him a special dinner for no reason at all. Thanks!

Today we had another 90 degree day, one of six this past week. This came after having devastating floods in many small villages whose creeks eventually enter the mississippi River in Western Wisconsin. The last weeks have been stressful with flooding and erosion of farmland and numerous springs erupting and flowing artesian like over the landscape. So this weekend was time off for my entire family. We took advantage of the hot weather and went water skiing and and wake boarding on the mighty Mississippi. We enjoyed a few tasty beverages and ate healthy, simple meals together for 2.5 days. It was a time for renewal and reflection for the hard working family of mine!
